Service

By dropping off equipment for service, customers agree to the following pre-authorized repair amounts for the reason(s) equipment has been dropped off without an estimate (all figures are plus or minus 10%):

  • $250 – 2-stroke, push mowers, generators, pressure washers
  • $500 per system – Garden tractors
  • $500 per system – Zero-turn mowers
  • $250-$350- Zero Turn and Garden tractor Annual Service
  • $100-$200 2-stroke, push mowers, generators, pressure washers annual service

If requested repairs or discovered additional issues are expected to exceed these amounts, you will be contacted for approval.

Estimates are not provided for repairs below the listed amounts.

If an estimate above the listed amount is declined, a diagnostic fee of ½ hour labor plus parts will apply.  In house brand and out of house brand labor rates differ. See current labor rate.

Please be aware that certain diagnostics of specific systems cannot be diagnosed if supporting systems are not operating properly (e.g., a drive system cannot be fully diagnosed if the engine is not running).

If equipment remains on our premises for an extended period of time, starting or fuel-related issues may develop. The customer will be responsible for any resulting repair cost.

This policy helps keep our service department running efficiently.

We work diligently to serve our customers and operate using three distinct service lines. The brand/type of equipment and service required will determine the length of time before service is started.  All timeframes are estimates only. We do not guarantee start or completion dates—only estimates. Please note that estimates may be significantly longer during peak seasons.

The estimated start time is 7–10 business days from drop-off.  This is for maintenance service only, ie: oil change, blade change, tire change, etc.  This does not include services like non-start, carburetor issue, pto issue, forward/reverse issue, etc.

The estimated start time is 2–4 weeks from drop-off.  This is for our in-house brands that need repair service: Bad Boy, Hustler, Husqvarna, Walker, and Ventrac only.

Walk-in equipment is serviced as availability allows. Start times cannot be estimated and will extensive to indefinite during season.  This is for all other brands that we do not sell in store that need repair service.

FAQ

A piece of equipment must be onsite to be in the repair line.  We do not work on a appointment basis, just first come first service.

Hydraulic system maintenance service only conducted upon request by customer.

Annual service means that a piece of is in good working order with no know repair issues.  The annual service is a maintenance service only.

Annual service includes for driven machines with pto systems: motor oil and oil filter, spark plug(s), air filter(s), fuel filter, rpms check/adjustment, auditory valve check/valve adjustment; start circuit check battery load test with top off charge or change as needed; battery recharge circuit check; drive system visible and auditory inspection, hydraulic fluid top off if needed; deck/pto system visible and auditory inspection; blades changed or sharpened; grease points lubricated; tires inflated; fuel treatment added to tank; and clean.

Annual service for small gas engine machines, ie push mowers, pressure washers, etc, includes oil change, air filter change, spark plug change, blade change/sharpen, systems check/adjustments as needed, add fuel treatment to tank.

Annual service for handheld machines: Motor fuel filter clean/change, fuel lines change as needed, spark plug change, air filter clean/change, clean muffler screen as needed, adjust carb as needed; service as needed consumable working end of machine, ie saw chain, trimmer head, trimmer blades, etc.

Annual service may include a simple repair at mechanic’s discretion if found during annual service with customer notification eg. deck belt is chunked, tire needs to be plugged, start solenoid function intermittent, etc.  If needed repairs exceed a quick simple repair/part replacement a estimate will be compiled and communicated to customer before that work is completed, not to say that all or part of the annual service will be done at time of estimate.

Our cost/benefit line for repair(s) total for small equipment like handheld tools, push mowers, pressures washers, etc is about $250.00.  Typical parts and labor for typical repair issues we see get the bill to this point.  For example non start fuel system repair.  One hour labor, a new carb, tune up parts, etc and the bill is at $250.00 easily.

Many box store consumer grade handheld tools new cost less than the common repairs we see, this especially is relevant to trimmers and blowers.

Age and/or overall condition can play a huge factor in repairs.  The older the machine the more time and parts can be expected.  Overall condition of a machine will also play a large factor: has the machine been used beyond its intended purpose? Has the machine had regular maintenance services? Is the machine keep inside or out? Does the machine live near salt water? Is the machine kept clean and free of debris?  Does the machine sit unused for extended periods? Is the machine transported regularly?

Why can chain saws be so expensive to work on?  Many times when a saw is in shop for repair it also needs cutting equipment work/replacement as well as the typical running issue.  Additionally, saws have unique oiling system and chain drive system that need periodic maintenance and repair.  Also saws have important and costly consumables, a new bar and new chain can be $100+ on their own.

Is my ride-on worth fixing? Riders the same as zero turns have three distinct systems with sub-systems with in those.  The motor which has its own start circuit just to turn over, the fuel and fire system to run, and the drives off the crankshaft to operation the movement and pto.  The drive system which typically consists of belt drives off the motor to a mechanical axle or hydraulic axle/motor system to effectuate forward and reverse motion.  The pto(power take off) on a mower is the mowing deck.  This can be electronic or mechanical engagement along with drive spindles that spin the blades to allow for the mowing action.  Depending on factors like age/hours, overall condition, and model level will help you decide.  A common multiple system issue example we run into is a machine not running and had a cutting issue when it stopped running.  We find that it needs fuel system work/tuneup about $600 and some deck work $600.  $1,200 repair on a decent shape $6,000 zero turn probably a cost effective repair, $1,200 on a basic $2,500 lawn tractor might not be.  Everything is always situation dependent and we are here to support any direction the customer wants to take and do our best to try give options and potential pitfalls.
